Let’s Make Some Christmas Décor & Gifts!

Are you looking for some DIY Christmas gifts? Do you want some fun new DIY Christmas décor? The four crafts in this post were made with materials I had on hand and if you are a crafter, there is a good chance you will have the materials on hand too! If you are not a crafter or don’t have leftover supplies, no worries, they are inexpensive and available at thrift stores & the Dollar Store. Let’s get crafting! If you prefer to buy the items on this post, I have a link to my Shoppe at the bottom of the post.

Gather Supplies

Wine Cork Christmas Trees

These trees use 11 wine corks. If you haven’t been saving yours or you are not a wine drinker, you can buy them in bulk on Amazon. I’m sure there are other places but I haven’t searched around. You’ll also want to gather some embellishments such as little Christmas bells, buttons, old jewelry pieces – earrings with posts work well. A hot glue gun & wire cutters (to cut the shank off of buttons if using) are used in this project.

Supplies Needed

  • Wine corks – 11 per tree
  • Embellishments: Christmas bells, old jewelry, buttons, bows
  • Glue gun
  • Wire cutters
  • Green craft paint (*optional)
  • Small artist brush (*optional)

Instructions

  • Pick out 11 fairly uniform wine corks
  • With green craft paint, paint the end of a few of the wine corks (*optional)
  • Glue 4 wine corks, long sides together to make the bottom row
  • Glue 3 corks to the top of that row for row two
  • Glue 2 corks to the top of row two to make row 3
  • Glue 1 cork to the top of row three
  • Cut one cork in 1/2 with a knife ( I used a serrated kitchen knife)
  • Glue the cut pieces to the center of the bottom of the first row
  • Add embellishments using your glue gun

Instructions

  • Choose 1 wine cork
  • With drill & bit, drill a hole in the center of one of the ends of the wine cork about 1/3″ to 1/2″ deep
  • With the wire cutters, snip off a small length of garland – 1 1/2″ to 3″
  • Trim the garland greenery from the wire on the garland from the end of the piece that you snipped about 1/3″ long
  • Twist that end into the hole in the cork
  • Trim top of tree if needed to look like a Christmas tree
  • Add a bow, bell, or small ornament if you want decorations
  • You can add a hanger to the top if you’d like to use it as an ornament

  • With your saw, cut 3 lengths of board
    • 12″
    • 9″
    • 6″
